First game on Itch.io


So, finally, the time is come. My first game on itch.io is published, also if some work is still necessary to complete it.

The idea of Smasheroids come from the arcades of '80s in the previous century. 

The arcades of that era where hard, without story, simple gameplay (and more simple graphics) but with great amusement.

I think that a good game must have a gameplay which entertain the player, a good mechanic, a simple but clear goal are the basis for a game, if a user is unable to understand how to play a game in the first three minutes, probably, the designer needs to make some question to himself about his job.

And the arcades like asteroids, spece invaders, pac-man are a clear example of a simple but entertaining game.

In Smasheroids your goal is really simple, destroy al the falling asteroids to gain point, every single asteroid which land on the planet will subtract point from your score.

There are power ups which will help your gameplay but also enemies like falling bombs which will kill you if they collide with your tank or also touch the planet. It's imperative to destroy them.

In few days I will release the full game, with some other power up and enemy and the remaining UI elements (and leaderboards and achievements). 

One more thing: the controls.

You can use the keyboard left and right arrows to move the tank, and press the spacebar to shoot.

If you have a gamepad you can still use it with the left analog stick (or the d-pad) to move the tank and the right trigger (or the A button) to shoot.

If you like to play from a mobile device, the UI will show you the controls.
